Sir Martin Sorrell (CEO of WPP group), during his keynote speech at this invite-only event, stressed that “playing with data”, or consumer insight, will be one of the biggest parts of WPP’ business in the future. Stream is WPP’s annual event for “innovation, inspiration, and awe-inspiring ideas in the area of culture, communication, innovation and internet”. The event encourages a wide range of views from participants across digital media.
Alex (who studied psychology at Oxford) lead a keynote discussion on Why Do We Click?: the psychology of response online. “I presented online and offline psychology research, and encouraged a debate on how we understand the behaviour of individuals online - which is after all fundamental to all our digital business models”. Esther Dyson, who is on the Advisory Board of Cognitive Match and a Director of WPP, also attended the event, and lead a related discussion about the targeting of individuals based on expressed preferences. Stream runs from 1st - 3rd October 2009 in Athens, Greece
